You can defend yourself against Ghost attacks more consistently, but this makes the game less scary because you know that you won’t die. Game Mechanics are valid, bettter than Phasmos Mechanics. After that you may have to use a crucifix on the ghost or hit it with holy salt.
For example you may have a ghost “The Drowned” in your house and that may require you to turn on water faucets as your first task. In the exorcism phase you have to do tasks in order to be able to contain the ghost and clear the house. This is where the game separates itself from many others. Use the tools to identify specific traits of the ghosts and then you get to exorcise them. The different tools that you have at your disposal should be pretty straight forward… EMF reader, ghost radio, luigi-board etc. The ghost types are varied and often you can start to identify the types of ghosts just through seeing how they act and not even using too much evidence. Players can get ghostnabbed and dragged into the basement or upstairs and it can be pretty intense the first few times it happens. Where Ghost Watchers separates itself in my opinion is how aggressive the ghosts are and the things that can happen while you are investigating. Much like Remnant Records, Forewarned, Ghost Exile etc all of these games focus on trying to identify some major central threat and then decide what to do with them. It absolutely is in the ghost hunting genre and you absolutely use tools to identify traits of ghosts so that you can move towards an end goal. Okay so let’s get the most common question out of the way that people always ask when one of these games comes out: “Is this better / like / similar to Phasmophobia”. It’s just wandering around the house, you may get grabbed, you may get killed etc without any information, which is great and a way to keep you always on your toes, the same as the ghost going outside! This threw me! A Great Ghost Hunting Experience The ghost doesn’t go hunting and then flash light and door locked, none of that. (I completely understand people who say it’s a copy of Phasmophobia or Ghost Exile, listen we get it but that’s like saying COD is a copy of CS, CS is a copy of Unreal Tournament and so on, without actually having an understanding off the game and what you can do) So you can buy items in the game from the shop in the van, each ghost is different, there are all sorts of general items to use from EMF to particles to cameras and THEN you can weaken the ghost and capture them.
